Common questions

How do I delete my account?

Open the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm. Once confirmed, your account and all associated data are permanently deleted within 7 days. Encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.

If you can't access the app, email [email protected] from the email associated with your account and we'll process the deletion within 7 business days.

I forgot my password — how do I reset it?

On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and follow the prompts. You'll receive a reset link via email.

Important: If you use the app's encrypted notes feature, your existing notes are encrypted with a key derived from your old password. Resetting your password will not automatically decrypt them. You'll need your recovery phrase (provided during signup) to recover encrypted notes after a password reset.

I lost my recovery phrase — what do I do?

Your recovery phrase is the only way to recover encrypted journal notes if you forget your password. We do NOT store this phrase and cannot recover it for you. If you've lost both your password and your recovery phrase, encrypted notes cannot be recovered. However, your unencrypted trade data (P&L, tickers, etc.) is still accessible after a normal password reset.

Going forward, please save your recovery phrase securely (password manager, written down in a safe place).

How do I export my trade data?

Open the app, go to Settings → Export Data. Your trades will be exported as a CSV file you can download or share. The export includes all trade fields and any unencrypted notes.

Why is the app showing a different P&L than my brokerage?

PnLStack is a manual journal — it computes P&L based entirely on the entry and exit prices you input. Common reasons for discrepancies:

To verify the calculation, the app's Advanced mode shows the exact formula used. The formula for options is: (Exit − Entry) × Quantity × 100 − Fees for long positions, and the inverse for shorts.

Can I log a trade for a past date?

Yes! When you tap the green + button to log a trade, you'll see a "Date" row at the top of the screen. Tap it to open a date picker and choose any past date.

How do I switch between viewing weekdays only vs. all 7 days?

On the Home screen (Calendar view), scroll to the bottom of the calendar to find the "Show weekends" toggle. Default is ON for crypto traders. Equity-only traders can turn it off.

Does PnLStack work offline?

Partially. You can log trades offline and they'll sync when you reconnect. Reading existing data requires an internet connection because data is stored in the cloud.

Can I use the same account on multiple devices?

Yes. Sign in with the same account on any iPhone and your data will sync. We currently support iOS only — Android is on our roadmap.

Is there a desktop or web version?

Not currently. PnLStack is iPhone-only at launch. We may add web access in the future.

How is my data protected?

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Sensitive notes are additionally encrypted on your device before transmission, with keys stored in your iOS Keychain. Data is hosted in Toronto, Canada via Supabase's ca-central-1 region. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
